Nikon's D5100 Offers Video to Fit HDTV

With the recently released D5100 SLR, Nikon has taken the next step in affordable video recording technology by offering its first model with full HD 1080p recording at 30 frames per second (fps) and full-time autofocus capabilities.

Other focusing options include face priority, which can track up to 35 human faces, subject tracking, and normal or wide-area autofocus.

While Nikon already has several models that shoot in full HD, they offer only 24 fps recording capabilities. The 30 fps resolution in the D5100, however, allows for higher-quality viewing on HDTVs...

Panasonic Upgrades Compact Interchangeable Line

The latest in Panasonic's compact interchangeable lens camera line is the Lumix DMC-G3. Released just about a year after its predecessor, the G2, this new model touts an upgrade in image resolution (16 megapixels instead of 12) and ISO sensitivity; the G3 contains a Venus Engine FHD and is advertised to suppress granular distortion by 66 percent when using high ISO speeds.

Manual control over focus has also been improved with the manual assist and AF + MF focus modes. Images can be in low-light settings up to ISO 6400...

GoPro 3D Hero: Lightest, Cheapest 3D System Available

GoPro has debuted its 3D Hero system, the smallest 3D camera available on the market today. This 5- x 2.5-inch device can shoot full 1080p HD video and stills.
